The curriculum has a clear centre of gravity
Udemy lists 74 lectures and 14h 32m. This is not a collection of equal-sized channel introductions. Several modules use long, live demonstrations, especially around search visibility and lead capture.
- ~1h35
Google Business Profile: optimisation, a live profile build, a 45:22 SEO walkthrough, image work and review generation.
- ~2h16
Website SEO: service/product homepage templates, URLs, title tags, meta descriptions, speed and keyword work.
- ~1h42
Email: campaigns, regulations, ChatGPT-assisted drafting and an AWeber landing page, automation and broadcast workflow.
- ~3h05
Google Ads: match types, keyword strategy, copy, account setup, a campaign built in three parts and a 22:33 optimisation lesson.
- ~50 min
Customer value: retention, subscriptions, affiliate marketing and revenue after acquisition.
That is enough runtime to do more than define terms. It also tells you the intended business: one that can benefit from local search or search advertising and then follow up with leads.
Some advertised channels are only a first pass
The AEO/GEO module is about 14:41, including a 9:44 “Reddit hack to rank in AI.” Facebook’s dedicated section is about 26:40. Instagram receives just under an hour, while the influencer unit is largely one 36:22 live search for local influencers. No dedicated TikTok or YouTube module appears in the public lecture list.
That does not make those sections useless. It means a learner should not describe themselves as an AEO, social-media or influencer specialist solely on this course. The evidence supports broad planning and deeper local-search/Google implementation.
The syllabus names KeySearch and AWeber, and several lessons depend on current Google interfaces. Check subscription costs and lesson freshness. The strategic idea may survive an interface change even when the clicks do not.
A better project than “do every channel”
Choose a real business you own or a clearly labelled fictional local service. Produce an ideal-customer profile, one value proposition, a 20-keyword map, a Google Business Profile audit, a three-page site outline, four follow-up emails and a no-spend Google Ads draft. Finish with five baseline metrics and a 12-week priority plan.
Do not create a live business profile for a fictional company or spend ad money just to complete a portfolio piece. Screenshots, drafts and a written rationale are enough to demonstrate planning.
Study it in business order, not menu order
- Diagnose
Record the business goal, current lead sources and baseline numbers before changing anything.
- Position
Complete customer psychology, ideal-customer and differentiation work. Reject vague promises.
- Get found
Work through local SEO, profile and website sections using the same keyword map.
- Follow up
Build the email path before adding paid traffic.
- Test
Draft one search campaign with a capped budget, valid tracking and a written stop condition.
Who gets the most value
Good match
- Owners of local or service businesses
- Generalist marketers who need a connected acquisition system
- Freelancers building an audit or setup service around search and follow-up
Poor match
- Someone seeking advanced Meta, TikTok or YouTube training
- An ecommerce brand whose main work is merchandising and lifecycle experimentation
- A learner who cannot maintain a 14-hour working case alongside the videos
What to inspect before paying
- Udemy marks Welcome, Digital Marketing Simplified and 8 Reasons People Buy as previews; check whether the examples are specific enough for your business.
- Open recent reviews for comments on the Google, AWeber and KeySearch demonstrations.
- Verify local advertising, email-consent and review-solicitation rules before implementation.
- Treat the 4.6 rating from 20 ratings as early evidence, not a settled consensus.
